27" or 700c Mavic tubulars

Hi,
I have these tubular rims that are old red label Mavic tubulars from the 1970's. They are pulled off of a Gitane Tour de France (Service Course Professionel). The tires are shot and I need to replace them. I was wondering if they were 27" or 700c.
Peace,
Ladule

What is the model number of the rim? What do the old tires say on them? When you take them off, are they one piece or do you have a tire with a tube inside of them?

If they are truly tubulars(and they appear to be from the picture), Then you would order something like this:

and some glue.

random guess...700c based on the clearance of the tire and fork crown and the position of the brake pads...

Tubular tires, and tubular rims ARE 700C (well, unless they are 650C or 24" or something ridiculous) the point being there are NOT any tubulars that measure 27". Even if you run across the very rare fish tub that might be *marked* 27" (like some old Continentals), it's not...it's 700C...that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

All full size tubulars are 700c (from Sheldon).

+1. In the mid-1970s, many tubulars were marked as 27" because that was the closest Imperial sized tire. The US market was not familiar or comfortable with the concept of metric/700C tires. Many still aren't.
