Please help me decode the production date of my Fuji bike with serial number: HR41593

I've checked on fujiclassic.com, but it doesn't match with any code.

I've just bough this bike in very good condition, the tires named Mitsuboshi Belts look like serveral dozen years before with many cracks. Here is my bike:

The subject bicycle appears to be a modern, retro-styled model based on features such as the rear drum brake (that particular model appears on lots of modern folding bicycles), resin pedals and plastic crankarm covers. Most likely, it is contract built in China or some other non-Japanese country. Being modern and contract manufactured, it would not be covered by the serial number formats at Classic Fuji as they cover primarily the 1970s and 1980s.

That partiular serial number format is fairly common but there are a couple of ways to interpret it. The most common would be that the year ends in '4'. Based on the apparent age, 2004 would be most likely. However, this is only one possibilty so I suggest you start looking for date codes on the components. The best internet resource is the Components page of the Vintage-Trek website, though it is aimed primarily at vintage bicycles. Still, a lot of modern manufactuers use similar formats. Personally, I'd be starting with the saddle a most Asian manufacturers use a simple clock calendar with an indicator that points to the appropriate year and/or month. Component codes will typically be no more than one year off the model year for the bicycle, provided they are not replacements. Good luck. Keep us informed of what you find.

The components look amazingly new, as if they are just only 1 or 2 years old!

It seems that all the components are made in Japan with the JIS mark stamped on most of them. Especially, the tires named Mitsuboshi Belt is "made in Japan" too, they look quite old with lots of natural cracks on the side. I don't found much information about the Mitsuboshi Belt tires on internet.

I'll add more details photos this weekend for your advice.

My LBS has been sitting on this 1975 Fuji "The Ace" for about 20 years. They recently got it down out of the rafters, cleaned it up a bit, and will soon be posting it on Ebay. Its mostly original except for the saddle. The hoods are just a lumpy gooey mess.

I got my NOS Ace from a guy in Indiana, same deal...it had been hang in his shop since 1976.

Just about finished getting it ready to pass it on to someone who needs a bike. Serial # is: F9116301 (the 6 is lightly stamped and the 3 is just a faint image in the paint).

FUJI Special Road Racer # K9G01075 1974 I presume? Picked this at the local thrift this week. Looks completely original with LOW miles and almost zero rust. Only missing the pump. Can't wait to clean it up and ride!

just found a Fuji club in what appears to be factory florescent lime green, tange double butted tubes ,shimano rx 100 group including hubs with mavic 26 inch alloy clincher rims serial number is not readable can anyone take a stab at around what year it is it's a 49 cm frame if that's any help .this is my first post really enjoy all the information I'm learning,thanks

This evening I picked up a Fuji Professional frameset, that curiously enough appears to be a 1975 from the serial number. The odd thing is that the Professional doesn't appear until the 1976 catalog. Does anyone know how early in the year they typically started production of the bikes for the following year? The "F" would put this one as a June bike, if I understand the codes correctly.

There is another, larger scale, 1975 catalog that also had loose tear sheets within it. The 1975 Pros were featured there. You will note on the FujiClassic site that the 1975 catalog shown is a smaller interim one. Fuji produced a number of 1975 Pros before the "cut-off" month of October "J" when the builds become next-year's models. Yours is one of the silver mink ones and had black cloth tape, not leather, and the earlier brakes, etc.

I found this on CL in pretty rough shape. I had the frame blasted and powder coated in a color called "chrome". It looks more like polished aluminum, which is perfect because I polished everything. The frame, fork, brakes, levers, and derailleurs are original. The black brakes were de-anodized and polished. I built the wheels using Campagnolo Nuevo Tipo hubs and Velo Orange rims, added an eight speed freewheel, Suntour Barcons, butchered Fuji saddle, and a combination seat post/pump.

I believe so. Apparently there was a different numbering system for some of the hand-built higher end Fuji frames, and your assessment is right in line with the conventional wisdom on that system.

I got a Fuji Suncrest in a garage sale. S/No is F1106059

It has Shimano Deore LX components and 21 gears.

Looking at Fuji Bicycle Serial Number Formats - 1971 through 1991 did not help in identifying my S/No format.

The format is not listed because this is a contract manufactured frame, probably from Taiwan. Based on our current understanding of the format, it was manufactured in October 1991, which would make it a 1992 model. It appears to have been rebuilt/upgraded to an extent, based on the handlebar/stem combination and saddle.
