Tommasini frame

I am looking at a 1991 Tommasini bike with a Competizione frame. The frame of this bike has a Mannesman Oria sticker and I am curious to know whether that affects the value up or down. This bike has the pearl white background with the multi color tubes which I also thought was of some value. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. I think Mannesmann is or was a German steel company. What is German steel doing on a Tommasini? Pictures below of bike, frame sticker, and bottom bracket. Thanks for any info!

Mannesmann, yes German but multi-national with plants over Europe, maybe elsewhere. Oria, Italian company (notice the language on the sticker) who had the multi-national pull tubing to their specs. Oria tubing was considered pretty good, some grades tend to be a little heavy, but those were generally used as appropriate for tandems and touring rigs. This one simply states "chrome-moly","ANF", not sure what level that makes it, the stuff I've seen has a series of numbers like 0.0.1 or some such. I'm sure it's a fine ride, whatever the tubing.

If you can send me the complete info stamped on the bottom bracket I will get a date of manufacture plus if you can send me more pictures of the frame I can send you what the frame is worth today.

not wanting to put a damper on the fun. But caveat emptor
maybe check it out more closely.
I've seen just a few road bikes with what would be so steep a head angle that this one projects...
I'd check the down and top tubes (underside tells all) for straightness and then check the fork and steerer very closely. Usually forks from that era were built like panzers, so the tubes took the 'hit', but I have seen forks tweaked and the main triangle was still OK.
It may all be an optical illusion, so I might just be all wet, but that wheel is extremely tight to that downtube. A lot more than I've seen on many trackies.
But then it was the late neon 80's and anything is/was possible...
still, I'd check it over real careful...

I also have a Tommasini with the same paint scheme as yours that also has a VERY steep head angle like this one. Mine is made with Columbus SP tubing. The only difference I can see is that my bike has chrome stays...Thats about all I know about it.. I would love to know more though..

I absolutely love Tommasini's and now have 3. Every time I see a deal on one I just can't pass it up

I agree with "cyclezen". Unless I'm mistaken that fork looks like its been hit. Still a very nice bike though.

FWIW, I have a Tommasini 'comp' much like yours, only with Columbus SL.

Very nice bikes and beautifully made.

Well, all these old threads were dug up by 'Ride Tommasini' offering to identify the date of manufacture on people's Tommasinis' and other info. I contacted Tina myself, who is the owner of 'Tommasini USA' in San Diego, and I believe a niece of Irio Tommasini who has a direct line to the factory in Italy. She was very nice and very helpful with my questions.

So if there are any Tommasini owners out there who would like info on their bikes, or questions about Tommasinis' in general, pm 'Ride Tommasini'.

~its all good
