Chair Master? WTF?!

What the....

These bars came off of a Centurion Le Mans Mixte.

How much sake did these guys drink? What is with that name.

And is it just me, or did everyone making aluminum bars during the 70s and 80s use the Cinellli/Sakae wreath type logo

Those handlebars are from the Arai Industrial Co. Ltd., whose logo was a chair. They made handlebars, pedals, hubs and brakes, all under the Chair brand.

I believe the company originally produced furniture, hence the logo and brand name. Diversifying into bicycle products would be fairly straight forward, particularly if you had produced tubular furniture. After all, Columbus went the other direction, diversifying into tubular furniture in the 1930s.

Considering the history and logo, Chair Master makes sense. I bet the Japanese have a good laugh at some of our brands, model names and expressions.

I'm sure you all know about the Hozin lock ring wrenches that came marked "Rock Ring Wrench".

I think those guys all went to UCRA...
