Mixte, restoration help.
I have what is most likely a late-60's paris sport UO8 clone. My mom has an original, so I'm pretty sure that's what it's copying. Weinmann wheels/calipers, and some other stuff That I'll have to examine more fully.
due to my sig, a buddy came across this .......gem. I'm looking to build it up as a single speed for my wife, which is OK since the derailleurs are trashed. so are the wheels (rust). I am wondering what would be the best way to take care of the rust on the cottered cranks, or even if anyone knows of a 3-piece crankset (170) that will look OK, like the semi-fluted crankarms on it now. I think that the handlebars are kind of toasted as well; rust again. also, I'm really not trying to replace the bb, unless the cranks are going, too.
This is kind of a labor of love, looking at the upcoming work.
Good news is that I have a decent wheelset (700c shimano) that I took off my old bike. I'm not thrilled about the quick releases, but hey.
any help is appreciated.

Did I miss the photos?
Rust on cottered cranks, sounds painful. I don't know if the oxalic acid trick will work on that. Is there chrome on the cranks?

Oxalic acid will work on the cranks, but may leave a lot of pitting in the chrome. Better than rust, but not that great to look at.
