Cross post from roadies forum

Hey guys,

This is my first post here on the CV forum, but I've been lurking for a while. My name is Thomas, and I recently graduated from UBC and UGR, now I work for Microsoft in Boulder, CO.
Browsing this forum is very inspirational and the main reason I went in this direction for this bike. Originally equipped with Suntour Radius, 7s indexed downtube shifting.
Without further ado, my Bianchi Eros road bike. It's a replacement for a Cannondale Synapse with 10s 105 components that got stolen while I was in school.

  • Full 10 speed Campagnolo Chorus components
  • Cinelli stem
  • San Marco Ponza saddle
  • Knock-off Chinese carbon tubulars
  • Knock-off Chinese 'aero' Campy seat post
  • Vittoria Open Corsa Evo CX tires

She's a dream to ride, and I love her.

Welcome to C&V, you're in the right place for sure. That Bianchi looks very cool, I bet its a blast to ride. Do you sometimes overtake some bloke on his CF bike and you just smile? I bet you do, it looks super fast, yet so elegant.

+1 for this!

Having a quick release in both the Campy lever and the Shimano caliper works great with bigger tires. They clear nicely with 29mm on Open Pros and 31mm on Synergy rims. Don't know why I'd switch to Campy calipers, and one of my few caliper problems was a broken return spring on my wife's Chorus caliper that happened mid-tour. We bought a cheap Tektro caliper for the rest of the trip.

Very nice...right now I am torn between black (easier to get light/cheap rims/wheelsets) or silver rims on my project (red/blue bike w/silver athena 11s) was almost set on silver, but the black looks nice on this.

I think all silver or silver hubs and spokes, black rims (MSW) look really good with bikes that have color.

I wonder if this helps with your decision at all?...

I'm in agreement with the black rims + silver spokes/hubs idea, although I must admit, if I had a full Athena silver group, I would have been tempted to get these rims (Ambrosio Excellight) in silver for an all-silver wheelset. As it is I think the black goes well with the rest of the black/white themed components.

That Bianchi's lovely. Again, think I'd go for silver spokes and hubs myself, but I'm old(-fashioned).

  • That was a '90 Eros? Did you repaint it or just replace the decals (not that I blame you there the '90/91 decals were awful)

It was a 1990 Eros. It was in almost new condition, but I always wanted a celeste bike.
I had a shop sand blast it and powder coat it this color. I got a set of decals from eBay (these were for a Rekord 745, I liked the font and other stickers that went with it) and I put the decals on myself. True that the original decals looked pretty bad...

Hard Anodized dark grey is a classic colour (1980's, 90's), especially for tubulars. Silver reminds me of really cheap wheels and black reminds me of anything modern. Dark grey, stainless spokes, polished alloy hubs... perfect.

I dig it but I feel like it needs more white. Maybe something out of the ordinary like a stem and post.

Fun and flashy.

The Paletti I had was a fun ride. Had to stay on top of it, but spirited.

Love the wheelset and a neat build.

A build never really ends, does it?

I just picked up a set of H+Suns with 105 hubs.

We are building up a friend's Nature Boy Zona this weekend.

Should be a hoot.

Welcome, what bottle cages are those? Do you like them? I've got a colnago with the same group, they would complement the build.
