Show me some examples of lug outlines

Ok my mind is reeling again and I would like to see some lugged frames with the lugs the same color as the rest of the bike but outlined so I can get some ideas and maybe steal them for the Volare build.

Why are you going to cover the lugs? They look great as chrome on 77 pearlescent orange Volare.

I haven't decide to cover them up yet. They are pretty scratched up and so far I haven't gotten them to shine up as nice as I would like them to be. I think scratched up chrome looks worse than no chrome. From the postings on this thread the highlighted lugs are a real subtle but eyecatching feature.

You should be looking at pictures of painted and outlined fancy Nervex lugs if you want to see what your Volare will look like.

Even badly scratched chrome lugs look good from a few feet away if you keep them waxed.

Can't remember if there were any outlined lugs but you'll find plenty of lugged goodness on this thread.

I don't know how to answer that. As badly as you'd expect them to be after 48 years?

Completely through the chrome in some places. There's no rust, though. Rust pits are way worse than scratches. I think it shows more in this shot:

The perfect chrome on the Campagnolo headset makes the chrome on the lugs look worse.

I tried a bit o turtle wax on those lugs and they looked pretty good. From the pictures I have the only lugs that were chrome only were the headlugs and the seat and bottom bracket lugs were painted so I think if I leave them they won't be too bad and like you I have a campy headset that has perfect chrome so hopefully the glare from it will help the lugs too
