Love that last photo, but I might be biased, but got to wonder why put it under the BB instead of ON THE HEADTUBE.

This is looking to be a great trip, between all the bike porn and all the great people that will be there to meet. I'll have to check with work to see if I'll be able to swing a full day off on the Friday prior to get out there as early as possible or what. I'll be sure to keep everyone updated.

Luckily, my wife's cousin is getting married that weekend in Portland, so I'll be there (don't know how I got so fortunate on the timing).

I'm hoping we will drive down from Seattle Friday night and I have warned the family already I'm going to disappear for a few hours either Saturday or Sunday morning to take in the show. They may even just dump me off at the show Sunday, and then I'll take Amtrak home to Seattle.

Wouldn't be a bad way to do it.

I plan on flying out Friday, and catching the latest possible flight out on Sunday as possible. Which means I'm going to have to be real nice to my wife before asking her to come pick me up at the airport at like 10pm or later!

Anyone interested in splitting a hotel room? I'm considering being out there Friday evening - Monday morning. 3 nights get to a point where it might be difficult to pay for the trip this time of year.

They should rename it WCHMBS (West Coast Hand Made Bike Show)

Ok, I've booked my flight and hotel. I'll be arriving around noon on Friday, leaving Monday afternoon. Staying a couple blocks away at the La Quinta Inn.

The group from Bilenky Cycle Works has been promoting a package to ride in with them from Philadelphia on the Amtrak "Empire Builder". That seems like it would be a hoot.

I booked through Travelocity since they offer discounts on the combined airfare / hotel package. It was the best I could do as far as a deal went. The hotel the show is being held at is apparently long sold out for the weekend, but several hotels within a half mile or so are still taking reservations.

Before we know it the show will be upon us and even more than the show (heresy?) I am looking forward to meeting and spending time with some of my favourite BFR's.

Now this is not to say that I don't like, and some would even say love, bicycles and do aspire to join the ranks of those that build them but it's the people who ride them that I am really fond of.

So I'll be picking up my passport next Friday and booking my flight this week ( ) and between now and then I have to find/build a case for my Phillip's 20 so I can take my wheels with me.

I am so looking forward to everything.

OK, I've been checking Travelocity and Kayak. I have 3 friends in 3 different houses up in Portland, so lodging is taken care of for me.

Just bought my plane ticket, see you all there!

FYI: www.southwest.com has a bunch of $54 one-way "web deals." After taxes and whatnot, roundtrip ends up costing $129.

Nice deal on the ticket el twe, I looked at SWA (my father was a Captain with them for better about 15 years, retired around '96), but being so far away I had to make more than one jump to get there. Look forward to seeing you there.

If anyone wants to trade names and cell phone numbers, drop me a PM.

Also, anyone in PDX have a bike I could borrow? I've got a friend who may be able to source something for me, but who knows. I can ride a 55-58 cm frame, and I won't be too picky.

Ya know, I've been just about everywhere - but I've never been to Portland. Southwest is telling me a RT ticket is only $110. Hmmmmm......
