Old Bridgestone
So I acquired an old lugged steel Bridgestone for cheap that was painted over and the previous owner was not the one to paint it so there is little info about it. I do have a serial number on the underside of the BB area and I was wondering if there is anyway to determine the frame / bike's model from that?
If not I guess I'll go back to pouring over the catalog scans on Sheldon Brown's site and pretending its an old RB-1.

Not positive, but it's entirely possible that T-Mar knows the serial number structure, and if not, he's probably looking for examples to help figure it out. Does it still have the original components?

Thats a no on the original components. It has the original seat post and thats it. No headset, no BB, nada. The derailleur hanger looks sawed off, no down tube shifter posts either although if they were there they don't look sawed off.

Are there little braze ons at all on the down tube? Such as little hearts?
Anyway, whenever you get a chance to post the serial number, that would be lovely .

There is also another number stamped closed to the back of the BB "under" the serial towards the rear triangle

As far as braze ons on the down tube, nothing except a water bottle holder set of holes. It also didn't come with the original fork. It has a 1" head tube (although all bikes from that era were so that doesn't help much). It has a lot of clearance on the back, probably enough for a 27" tire (I am running 700c) and the seller said it was 120 spacing in rear, but the triangle flexed a good handful of mm to fit on a 120 track hub.
