Campy bikes on ebay?

I am in the market for a 9 speed campagnolo bike, I have been looking for a while, it seems like they almost never come up, if they do, they are too small (58 here). Why is this? Do old campy bikes never get sold, or is there some wierd sequence of events that prevents them from being sold (like racer buys bike, sells it to friend who never rides it, then collector buys it)

Also, for some reason, I want a twin downtube colnago, those never come up either. care to enlighten?

You must not be looking to hard as there have been at least 2 if not 3 twin tube 'Nagos on Ebay in the couple months. I bid on one and passed on the other but I'm sure there was one more.

First of all 9 speed is not old - those are my newest vintage bikes. Sometimes you have to take the parts off one bike and match them with a frame you bought stand alone. I have seen this oppurnunity on ebay just about everytime I go looking. There have been lots of Italian frames available recently - and losts of nine speed groupo's on Cannondales and I saw one on a GT road bike recently.
The question you have to ask yourself how much work do I want to do and what do I want to spent. I am constantly asking myself the same question - especially two or 3 projects underway at the sametime.

Guilty!

Let's see...amongst others..my COLNAGO!

I'm the friend of the racer, and now it's in my collection.

Campy seemed to go straight from 8 to 10 sp in their high end bikes. They made 9 sp for many years but you just don't see as much of it as 10 sp. There are lots of Mirage equipped bikes available though. Good luck in your hunt.

no mirage, I figure if I am going to buy "technologically obselete" bikes, they might as well be chorus or better. with no plastic, unless it's an exxon.
