I see it didn't get any bids so I can only assume you got a much better price than the BIN? or am I wrong?

Nice Waterford!
Waterfords are known for their exquisitely crafted steel forks which they claim are custom made for each frame.

I personally am not a big fan of straight bladed forks although I know threadless CF forks save much weight esp over the front of the bike.

It looks kinda out of place, but I love Wound Up forks.

Heh...good question....

I was gonna hit the BIN as soon as I saw it, but the wife wasn't home ....so I put in a bid of $699.00 just to get my bid in.

The wife came home and I told her about it and she said "what are you, and idiot?" ... you should've hit the BIN!" (one of the reasons I love her ) I e-mailed the seller and told him I'd made a mistake and would he let me buy it at the BIN price.....he was a bit hesitant at first but relented as I was the high bidder at the time....

I would've done the same thing , if reversed...so good deal all around...

I don't know if he is a C&V, but he is on the CR list. I remember seeing that up for sale a couple of months ago. He also had a couple of larger Italian frames/forks as well for sale (Guerciotti and Colnago)

Interesting - I picked up a used Waterford 1200 this summer off Craigslist. The frame was in fantastic shape and a very reasonable price, and it, too, came with a Wound Up fork just like the one above as well as the steel crowned fork that came with the frame. I have never ridden on of these Wound Ups, and although I think it would kind of clash with the classic steel look, I am curious about it. The guys at Waterford were a little skeptical that it would be good on the frame because I have a short top tube on the frame (it's a 50cm) and they felt that with the straight fork it would be pretty skittish. So, I have the fork in my basement at the moment, unused.

So, what's the deal with the Wound Up forks? Is this a coincidence, or was there some sort of deal going on with Waterford to toss in the forks or something?

See post 7..... I'll contact Dave H. at Waterford tomorrow about the fork.

This frame has a 61cm top tube! Perfect for me! If I would've ordered this directly from Waterford, I only would've changed the seat tube to a 64-65cm. However , that isn't as important to me as the top tube length....don't worry, this baby will fit me fine!

Thanks - sorry I missed that. Mine is a 1995, so that must be some time in "the era". Beautiful frame, barndoor - congratulations and enjoy the ride!

Nothing wrong with Dura Ace, but assuming you don't already have the group you might consider Campy Centaur. You'll probably be able to do it for less, and end up with a more classic looking bike. Also, the Campy stuff seems smoother to me, is more aesthetically appealing, and has neat features like the rapid-shift. brake release button in the shifter, and more ergonomic (to me) hoods.

I love them too. I think they look acceptable on a lot of older frames actually. There was a PDM Concorde posted in SS/FG that had one that looked amazing.

barndoor - I say this, meaning it in a very complimentary way. That blue reminds me of a bowling ball I once lusted after in my youth. The subtle variations in the coloration add a nice sense of depth to the finish. I can only imagine that it would look even better in person. Congrats.

Do any of you with Wound Up fork experience think it'll be an adequate fork for me, being 265#?
