Once in while, something interesting comes accross on craigslist

https://philadelphia.craigslist.org/bik/526615436.html

Is this worth $1000?

It's probably my lack of expertise but I've never heard of " Aris Rival 6000 drive system and hubs 14 speed set up" before. If it were equipped with early 90's dura ace or record maybe it would be worth it.

It will probably be a good rider, but Columbus Thron tubing was used on entry level Torelli framesets, so I would say $400 tops and you could likely do better for the $$.

I just saw that ad!
That's the guy I bought my Trek 760 from. His garage is packed with old frames and beater bikes in the making and stuff.

JT why does the fork look bent to you?

I wonder how he finds all these bikes!

The pictures aren't great - but yes, it's a nice write up given the fuzzy view for such a high ticket item.
The seller is a CL frequent flyer - usually older beater bikes ($100-$200 range, generally a little high since he's trying to make a buck - but not out of the ballpark).
Thanks for the comments

JT why does the fork look bent to you?

The fork appears to be bent backward

even when viewed differently.

(90 degrees up)

aris was a sachs brand. I don't think it was a complete gruppo, rather just a drivetrain. I could be wrong. Might have had brakes too. Regardless, it never got much traction in the USA. Maybe it was more popular in France.

I agree, fork looks bent.
Ride the cliche, picture a straight line running through the head tube, it
should be in the same plane (parrallel) to the forks, these forks look like
they are pushed back a bit.
take a straight edge and hold it up to the picture, you'll get the idea.

Yeah, I noticed that after I saw the comment about 90 degrees from JT. Thanks, it looked a little funny to me and now I know why!
