I just got my hands on two new bikes Well quite used actuely And I am looking for information on them Like when they were made and what they went for whlen new.

Fuji: Regis, Seriel # SI524405, 20" top tube / Fuji Hi-Tension Tubing 661.

Corsaro: Orion, Seriel # HC35578N, 20 1/2" top tube / Tang 900 Tubing.

It was sugjested that I post on this forum bucause you guys generally have a lot of information on older bikes. Any info that you could provide would be a real help.

The Fuji Regis was built in Sept emebr 1985, so there is a good possibility that was actually a 1986 model. I don't have any pricing info on the Regis for these years but models with Valite tubing were selling for as low as $230 US. Given that your Regis has lower grade tubing, it was lalmost certainly under $200.

Based on the tubing the Corsaro would be mid to late 1980s and a least on step up from the Fuji. Knowing the makes and models of the major components would be a help. Pics would be even better.

The hardware is Suntour AR. It has 27X1 1/4 tires on it. The bike is red. And I would include pictures if I could figure out how to get them uploaded .

The thing with this bile is that it needs all new brake lines and I have to taks the rims in to have them streightened out because they have enough wabble in them that they rub on the brake pads. I alse need to get new tires for it. And in general give it a therough once over. It has a 20 1/2" top tube and at 6'1" I am wating to know if this bike is even bigenough for me. Is it worth it to put the money into the bike or not.

The bike has Suntour AR gear shifters and thumb levers. And a Sugino VT crank on it. There is small amounts of rust on the rims but nothing that wont come off with a little steel wool. The chain seems to be in good condition for the age. And I have to rewrap the handelbars. But I think that that is it. Is it worth it?

The AR derailleurs should put the Cosaro between 1981-1986. Thumbshifters on a bicycle with 27" wheels is a strange mix. Curiously, I have specs for for a Corsara Ontra road bicycle from 1986 with SunTour AR derailleurs and Tange 900 tubing. It sold for $230 US.

If you want to narrow down the age a bit further, refer to the Components page of the Vintage-Trek website for decyphering the component date codes.

Typically, a bicycle with a 20.5" top tube would be a small frame, with something around a 20" seat tube. This would be far too small for someone who is 6'1". Most people your height would be looking for a frame with about a 24" seat tube. Typically, frames in this size would have a top tube about 22.5".

Are you sure that you are measuring the tube correctly? The length of the tube is measured for the center of the intersecting tubes. In this case, the top tube would be measured along its centerline, from center of the seat tube, to the center of the the head tube.

Hay realy thanks. I just finnished looking up part numbers at Vintage-Trek and all of the hardware on this bike dates it to 1984. Most likely to some time in July or slightly there after thanks for all of the help on this bike.
