A bike a day makes the pain go away...
I'm headed in for knee surgery tomorrow (ACL) and will be down and out for a while. It will be some time before any of the bikes are out of the stable. I have a few projects to work on when I am able, but I thought I would post pictures of my bikes to keep me entertained during my recovery. I decided to start tonight as I will likely be in no mood to do it tomorrow.
Here's some flash to begin with. This is a Gitane TDF that I picked up from a fellow whose brother collected bikes before his health failed. The conversion work was done prior to my ownership. Braze-ons were added and the bike was repainted and outfitted with "modern" components. It needed tires, handlebars, wrap, and cables. It came with a titanium honey Brooks swift that was probably worth the purchase price alone, but it's a little narrow for me. I added the decals to finish it off. It's a smooth riding machine. http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/i...p/DSC03124.jpg http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/i...p/DSC03125.jpg http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/i...p/DSC03126.jpg http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/i...p/DSC03128.jpg http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/i...p/DSC03129.jpg http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/i...p/DSC03130.jpg http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/i...p/DSC02989.jpg Hope you enjoy. There is more to come. |

Beautiful bike!
Winter is the best time for knee surgery, if there is a good time for it. I had mine in Febuary '03. |
Nice, nice bike!

Nice Gitane.
Love those Royal Compe brakes. |
Beauty, eh?!

Best of luck with your surgery and a speedy recovery! :D

I survived. Here's the next one; it's going to have to do the talking today.

Glad you folks are enjoying the pics. For Gary Fountain the camera is an older Sony 4.1 Cybershot - Zeiss lens. Thanks for the good wishes and see you tomorrow.

How many days are you covering here?

If I include the wife's and kid's lugged steel I could cover a week or two. Are there limits on days or photo posts? I've been a regular viewer but not a big poster.

Glad you survived your surgery.
Yeah, the pics are great. Thanks for showing us your beautiful bikes. :D |
I'm looking forward to the next one tomorrow. That Bridgestone is a beauty.
|
Best wishes for a rapid rehab and recovery from your surgery. The bikes are great -- keep posting!

Great pics! And love your bikes. Keep 'em coming! I'm enjoying the detailed macros of the components. The Shimano 600 group on the Bridgestone brings back memories. I used them to help build a racer for my brother in the 80s. Good stuff!
As for posting pics online, you can also create a free Photobucket.com account for yourself and upload pics there, and then link them to anywhere. May you make a speedy recovery. |

Only limit is that you can't put more than ten images in one post (and that includes emoticons). The sky is the limit otherwise ;) , and you're doing a great job with those beautiful bikes! East Hill |

Nice Gitane, too. +1 |
I'm back with another installment. This time a 1984 Trek 420 I picked up recently and refurbished. Paint and decals turned out to be in great shape underneath the grime, and it came with the rack and bags. A definite catch of the day. I made some upgrades from my parts bin and switched it over to 700c wheels. I went all out with new fenders so I can handle the rain when I ride again. Almost too tall for me but I have enough clearance and the reach to the bars is fine. It should be a good workhorse.
