ways to remove powdercoat?
Looking at an old steel frame. Its nice, only problem is it was bead blasted and powdercoated a few years back, not liking the colour at all.
Can I get it blasted again to get the powdercoat off?
If not , other options? OK to get it dipped? Or DIY strip it at home (last resort to my way of thinking).
Cal.

its really difficult to remove. it can be bead blasted off but it takes a lot of work. you can put another layer of powder on. sometimes it reacts funny with the base and the color isnt quite right. i have gone from white to oil black powder very well.

If it was blasted before powdercoating, your best bet is Jasco Paint & Epoxy Remover; Water Rinseable.
Using abrasives, such as blasting, on powdercoating, will damage your frame before the powdercoat gives up!
After the Jasco, rinse well and blast lightly to get the nooks clean. The PC will be soft from the chemicals, so it should just need a quick spritz.

I just asked about this in the powdercoat thread in the Bicycle Mechanics forum and apparently a head gasket removal spray also takes powdercoating off, however, I have not tried it myself.
