Cannondale bought by Dorel
Another one bites the dust, and Dorel will probably do the same magic to Cannondale that they already did to Schwinn, Mongoose, and GT.

There's already a long string in the Road Bike section
https://bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=385114
but I don't normally read there.

It's "Dorel" by the way. Not the cigarette brand.

I also read about this is the road forum (where also rarely venture.) While I hope that the brand won't go down the drain, I'm not particularly optimistic about it. I have a particular attachment to the brand because my dad had a Cannondale that first got me interested in riding again, and my '83 is the first bike I built up from scratch. Who knows, Dorel is talking about keeping it as a marquee nameplate at least, so maybe it won't be entirely ruined a la Schwinn.

Death fork? Naaaah!!
Looks like I'll be selling 'Cannondale' bikes at Dick's soon.

Dorel, didn't do anything to Schwinn, Mongoose and GT. Any "magic" had already been already been by cast by Pacific Cycles prior to Dorel acquiring them. Under the recent announcement, Pacific Cycles is a separate division from the new Cannodale Sports Group, so it does appear that they are pursuing different market segments with separate strategies. Regardless, I think the real plum in this deal was their acquisition of Sugoi.

Was at the local Cannondale dealer yesterday...... they said that there was not supposed to be any large changes, but they were concerned that they might be forced to carry some brands 'Like GT' that they do not want.

My personal take on Schwinn is that it was ruined in many different ways by the different owners.
I think the WalMart Schwinns just put brown frosting on the cake.
What about Cannondale though?
Not enough difference between them and a zillion Chinese welded aluminum bikes?
Failure to expand their market and brands like Trek?
Family ownership like Schwinn?
The motorcycle fiasco (one of those family decisions)?
