Vintage Fuji on CL
$250 seems like a lot for this bike. Is it really worth that much?

I guess it's worth it for the seller to try.
Personally, I wouldn't give more than $25 for it. Probably not even that.

Stem mounted shifters and "safety lever" brake handles.
Pie plate spoke protector.
All this adds up to entry level.
And it's really big. I suppose if you were having a hard time finding a frame big enough it might be worth 50 bucks.

Fuji made some really nice bicycles.
This isn't one of them.

I'll bet the seller picked it up from the old guy for $25.
IIRC, this is a nice but entry level Fuji. Figure this one was built in the late 70's or maybe early 80's.
If you need a tall bike, maybe offer him $75-$100. If you buy it, remember to change out the brake pads and take apart and lube everywhere.

I saw that as well and couldn't believe the asking price. However, I guess if the guy can get $250 for it then more power to him.

I've bought three better Fuji's (2 ValLite, one Chrome-moly) each for under $75. $250 is way too much for such a low-end model. I'd never go over $100 for that model no matter how nice it is.

"It is a multi-speed bike. I am just assuming it is a 12 speed because of the model number. I have not rode it to see."
I think we can safely assume that this seller is clueless when it comes to bikes. The asking price was only the first clue.

In mid-February this 1978 Fuji Sports 10 (a model beneath the Sports 12) sold for $175 in Atlanta, after being listed on and off since December. I was the original owner. The bike was refurbished from stem to stern--hubs, bb, cables, pads, bar wrap, tires, tubes. It had the original dog-eared Fuji manual.
re the OP: The Sports 12 was a nice bike--chro mo frame, alloy 3 piece crank, etc etc. $250 would be ok if the bike were absolutely totally refurbed. As presented, 'original', and considering how the refurb nickels and dimes add up, in ATL around 100-125 would be top end. And do bear in mind--the nickels and dimes add up astonishingly quickly.

I would agree with $100 - $125 after a full overhaul. That's usually what I charge for bikes I flip. There are a couple of similarly goofy CL prices here in the Boston neighborhood, like $250 for a Raleigh Sprite.

It looks like a tall version of the S-10S my neighbor gave me for free. Granted, mine was a little rougher...
At any rate, it's cleaned up into a pretty nice bike. Not $250 nice, though, but it'll get the job done. I actually want a set of those lollipop reflectors for mine, so be careful pulling them!
