Attention SF Bay Area C & Vers

I'm cross-posting this here just in case the Northern California C & V folks don't routinely go to the Northern California regional forum...

I have managed to snag a registration for the Cinderella Classic, thanks to the careful guidance of bigbossman. Thanks bbm !

The plans currently call for me to start heading down to the Bay Area on Monday morning, March 31st. There's probably going to be a halfway stop somewhere in Oregon Monday evening (I will have left from work, so I'll be tired), and arriving in San Jose on April 1 (how's that for timing ?

I'll be visiting me mum for at least one or two days when I first arrive (because she would kill me if she ever found out I'd come all the way down without stopping to see her and the rest of my siblings).

The Cinderella Classic is on Saturday, April 5th.

That means I have quite a few days to do meeting and greeting with the local BF members who are up to the challenge of putting up with me . My planned departure would be Tuesday morning, April 8th.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look as if Mr. East Hill can come with me, as he could not arrange for time off work .

If anyone's got some good suggestions for places/times where other members could gather and say hi, and have a bit of fun, let's hear it!

I'm really looking forward to meeting all of you .

East Hill

I should be able to, just not certain which day.

I'm trying to plot where I can go to meet the maximum number of BF members. SF would certainly include a number of members (I know Scooper's there, along with you).

Let's see...... I'm in San Ramon, BlankCrows is in Sacramento, Mhendricks is in San Jose, Bikingshearer is in Moraga, TIOS is in El Cerrito..... and all your FOO buddies are scattered about, as well. Good luck finding a "central" place, but my house is always open.......

From Kent to the Bay Area is only about a 13 hour drive, even with restroom and food stops... the last time I drove it, I did stop in Ashland, but only because the pass was closed. There is nothing quite like a 13 hour drive to start (or end) a vacation.

Remember to fill up in Oregon (Ashland would be a good spot), because as soon as you cross the California line gas prices go up. I remember before I figured that out, I stopped northbound before crossing the border, remembering that in Oregon the attendant must pump the gas... I figured it would be more expensive, but ironically it was less. Never did understand why.

Enjoy the ride... it should be fun.

Margaret, let me know which day you'll be in S.F. There's always lots to do around here (as you undoubtedly know), and it would be fun to get together sorta like we BF folks did in Portland at NAHBS.

Hmm. Well, I don't know how practical it would be on the way down, but I think I could manage on the way back. Let's mull that over--perhaps we could try another, smaller meet and greet at the Lucky Lab or some other convenient place?

Well, you could wind up being the 'central' spot . How big did you say your back yard is?

Normally I would be able to do the whole thing in one day, but I will be leaving from work. I may also stop in Yuba City to say hi to Mr. East Hill's mom...I'm still thinking that one over.

Yes, I think it would be nice to have a day/evening for San Francisco people. I'd like to visit with you again, and meet onetwentyeight, and I'm certain that there are other C & Vers in SF.

I'm mostly just letting everyone know that I'll be down there to see who's up for some good talks (and ogling of bikes, if at all possible).

East Hill, if you are going through Sacramento on the way down let me know. You should meet Lucy. I'm sure bigbossman & TIOS would agree that Lucy would love to meet you!

Actually, I was thinking a meet and greet on the way BACK would be good. That way, I could see you, x136, wolffian...anyone else in Sacramento who doesn't want to go all the way down to the Bay Area?

I'd probably be coming through Tuesday?

I know I would love to meet any and all Paramounts and their owners .

My, you are a trusting soul. We Paramount owners are generally a pretty disreputable lot. I mean, bigbossman let not one, not two but three of us hang out in his garage a few weeks back.

What more do you need to know?

You don't seriously think I would go visit all these great folks and NOT BRING BACK PHOTOS ?

Yes, there will be photos!

Oh, and I will pick up anything and everything that anyone needs ferrying back and forth.

You're always welcome to come ogle here, if another 50 miles (south of San Jose) isn't tooo much more driving for you. Maybe a tandem tour of Pebble Beach if you're up for pedalling some?

But I'm game to meeting at BigBossMan's as well. 'Cept I can only bring 1 bike or trike.
Coffe shop ride perhaps??

I'll check back here, so post the where & when.

Tandem tour? Oh, that sounds like fun! I've never been on a tandem, though....I am willing to try, though . Of course, I would have a bike with me if that didn't quite work out .

Yeah, the drive down to Monterey would not be too far for me to go. Besides, then I could see the work in progress .
