Color palette - Early 70's paint

I'm about to have a Ciocc frame powder coated and my ideal color choice is right here on Gr23's new Gazelle ...

Several shops I've checked with use Tiger Drylac, and I can't find that blue within their available choices.

Dr D? Anyone? Where can I get a reasonably priced powder coat in this perfect sky blue.

Baffin Blue in Imron is close, but still too dark and not with a tinge of green like the Gazelle - does Imron come in powder or only liquid?

Anyone now a painter who uses Imron and does it affordably?

Sorry, I'm not getting the image of the Gazelle.

I checked my Tiger sheet, and the lightest blue is RAL 5012, which is just about Corky blue.
Nothing any SKYyer.

Framebuilders forum has a thread by powdercoat4u that answers many pc questions.
He would know of some other powder sources.

See if that'll work maybe...

Thanks for the response Dr.D. I've been reading that thread and the parts I can grasp are very informative and interesting... I think I want a career change.

Somehow you missed this thread...

https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-vintage/393269-s-over-instant.html

& oddly,...now the pics are loading..

So that Gazelle ...looks like it may be a very light blue metallic. Any way to confirm this?

Other thought...powdercoat in something like silver, or any color really, then paint color & clear over that?

Metallic pwdercoat NEEDS clear over it to protect the metal flakes. Either a clear powder or automotive quality clear paint.

I was just reading it! I can very well imagine the storm cloud that would be festering over my head in that situation. I rattle-canned my Trek a couple years ago when I was at my parents in Va (they have a garage and I live in the city). I was heading back North with the frame after, and it hadn't cured yet, so of course took off the first chunk of paint loading it into my truck. Didn't even get any components back on the thing before it was mussed. Geez.

So you're saying that color be achieved by layering? That sounds like a high-skill job and mucho $.

My Raleigh has a very light blue metallic finish on top, greener than I would have chosen custom, but still excellent to look at. I have a fondness for the light blue that my late-sixties VW beetle was (Zenitblau, L639), and I also like very much the light gray-blue that 200x New Beetles come in: Aquarius Blue.

I dunno about you guys but that Gazelle looks like a very light green on my monitor. That would explain the green cable housings?

Yeah I've looked on a few different monitors and it's definitely a greenish hue but I would put it more towards the blues if I had to. I'm talking with powdercoat4u - our C&V powder consultant in North Carolina to try and narrow it down. On the RAL color charts it's closest to a light aquamarine.

CW - where'd you get the Raleigh job done? It looks spectacular, and yeah - that new Beatle shade is great. Initially they offered that color and this really pale yellow as special edition special $ models a few years ago but I think they've since made it a more accessible option. My favorite colors all belong to either 70's Volvos, Socialist housing, or the former Soviet space program in Star City.
