Old Shamal wheel with strange hub

Bought 4 Shamal wheels, one set 9 speed with rear rim shot, one set 8 speed really nice condition. The problem is that the 8 speed will not accept a standard Campagnolo cassette. I have heard something about a titanium 8 speed cassette with different splines. Does anybody know more about this and perhaps where to get such a cassette ?

It won't accept a standard 8-speed cassette, or it won't accept a 9- or 10-speed?

If you want to use it I think I have a cassatte body in the the part box when we switched some Shamals to 8 speed from 9 speed because of the casattes we had at the time. I don't know about Shamals in general, but it is my understanding there was an issue with some Record hubs that would only accept a certain cassatte.

The Record and Chorus cassettes had a different spline pattern than the Athena, mirage and
other lower end 8 speed gruppos. The cogs are not interchangeable.
Brandford Bike used to have a really good write up about it. You might check campy only for
more details.

Thanks for the answers, this is the one I'll go for. The 8 speed cassette that did not fit was an Athena, so if I am lucky any old Record 8 speed will fit. On to Ebay!

I've seen the record 8 speed cassettes on ebay, they are a bit more expensive than the steel
athena cassettes but you get what you pay for, eh?
I've always shied away from the Ti cassettes, they were always out of my budget
Excel sports has some 8 speed cassettes about 50 bucks but they don't specify if they
are record level or not and I can't tell from the photos.
This is the normal steel freehub:

this is the Ti freehub:

all photo's courtesy Branford Bike.
according to Branford bike you can use a 9 speed cassette with a little modification,
they also state the Ti cassettes are no longer in production (and will cost more).
Marty

Edit: Just read this at Branford:

It is best to use Campagnolo 9 speed loose cassette cogs on Campagnolo Record/Shamal 8 speed Ti style cassette bodies. You will need to file a small notch in each 9 speed cog to have it fit perfectly.
so your Shamal cassette used the Ti version, that means either ebay or file a notch.

You guys are just great! Now I know that what I need is a normal 8 speed Record or Chorus cassette.

I have Athena, chorus and record 8 speed hubs and use Record cassettes, they are all the same. There was an aluminium cassette availeble which used a different hub. See the bikepro site:
https://www.bikepro.com/products/hubs...mpagnolo.shtml
If you need an Aluminium cassette, good luck finding one. They are very rare.
