Still a better deal than the 12K Ritchey sport-touring frame but I think there's some extra 0's going on.
25K would be a stretch but a hair more realistic, maybe?

Redxj posted this a few hours earlier in the eBay Finds thread. He also says that this is the bike that was supposed to go to JPII, until someone at the factory dented the top tube!

But if you look closely at the dent you will see it's in the shape of the Virgin Mary.

Well, I'm sure that God would want somebody to spend a 1/4 of a million $ on a holy racing machine....

I hope that this trend of nice, maybe even gorgeous bikes being listed by numbskull sellers will end soon..Or is this what we can look forward to for the '08 season??

How would one start to put a fair price on a bike like this?

It's hard for me to swallow that Colnago would be OK with having any show bike with dents.

I'd take the price of a 1979 Colnago in good condition and stop there. That's all this one is.

The bike is my old coach's. He got a number of years back for what I'm guessing is a pretty good deal of money. It's been in his office for at least 10 years. The money will go to the Cleveland Velodrome Project.
Check the seller location and my location. The pictures were taken where I work.

And yes, it's real, the thing is gorgeous. I've got pics on my cell, too.

In that case they should make that known and be selling it as a "charity auction". Or have a raffle for it. $5 dollar raffle tickets worldwide might bring in some serious coin.

That sounds like a good cause and correctly marketed for that this bike might bring in some money for it. But as it is being represented I don't think anyone would touch it. If you know the owner I would suggest rethinking this before it just turns into a joke.

I'll mention it, I'm not sure if all is going to the project, but I know a good deal is.

I'm a bit short this week, and regret that I will have to make do with a chrome Paramount.

Maybe next week, who knows???

The BIN price is still silly. I don't care how pretty the bike is, or how good the cause is, or how nice a guy coach is. Silly is silly.
