Does anyone know what kind of bottom bracket threading Miele used back in the 80s on their road bikes? They are a Canadian company with at least marginal Italian roots from what I gather, but there's not much info out there on them. I appreciate any insight.

Easiest first shot would be to check the shell width; 70mm = Italian, 68mm = English.

That said, I did have an early 80's Raleigh quasi-MTB that was English and 70mm, it also had 650b wheels. It was a very odd bike, designed that you had to go back to the dealer for all parts and service.

By and large the ones I have seen have been English. There are some out there with columbus tubing but also many lower end ones which I think used Japanese tubing and I assume were outsourced... not sure.

I'm pretty sure John Miele was italian born, and immigrated to Canada in his twenties. So the bike company does have a little italian heritage, but not enough to brag about. good handmade frames for many years before they "expanded"

Opps I was getting mixed up with Fiori. Now that I think of it I think I have seen a miele or two with Columbus tubing.

Thanks for the info. I've since gathered that it's English which was the more likely spec, but I wanted to throw it out there just in case.

I know this is an old thread, but I just had the same question about an 80's or 90's Miele. I was able to remove the fixed cup using Sheldon Brown's makeshift bb tool, and can confirm that it was in fact English (left-hand) threaded.
