A vintage brings happiness

yeah it seems like a corny puchline I know. But I have a 1970? Schwinn Varsity that I fixed up and slightly upgrades a couples of years ago, that bike has now got 2 of my friends into cycling and as created happiness. just goes to show you don't need the newest of new to have fun.. that's all!

That's cool. I wish there were more vintage riders in my area. Maybe I should find some bike to give away. No shortage of cyclists here but I'm usually the only rider out there with anything really old. Maybe a few guys with late 80's - early 90's bikes but those are really more like just their old bikes they've had for years and never got rid of. They don't consider them "vintage" and would replace them with something new in a heartbeat if they had a spare couple of grand laying around.

I see very few vintage riders here. Since I don't do the spandex thing, I feel like I don't belong among "real" cyclists. I wish there were more vintage riders around.

I see vintage riders all the time in the area where I work. Seen a few Peugeots, A few of what I guess are Nishikis with bolt on DT suntour shifters, and a few others that I didn't see enough of to ID. I love vintage, the bikes I own bring me happiness. I like to look at, wrench on, and ride them.,,,,BD

Where I live in the suburbs I rarely see vintage bikes but where I work in an LBS close to Downtown we see it all, and very serious vintage enthusiasts every day.

Most of the folks in my club ride relatively new bikes, but there seems to be a growing appreciation for the classics both in the shops and out on the road.

I am a real cyclist, and I don't wear spandex. Today my attire was my screaming yellow cycling windbreaker over a white t-shirt, plus my expedition shorts.

Oops. When you said Vintage I thought of something else, like the 2004 Bordeaux vintage is said to be good.

I've been noticing several nice old bikes at my college - there was a Nishiki, something with downtube shifters that didn't have its decals anymore but had lovely lines, and once a Bianchi that I kind of drooled on (sorry, Bianchi owner!).

I just added to that number by passing a lovely old Raleigh along to a friend of mine who's also a student there. I hope she ends up riding regularly
