Brooks: Tension bolt is unseated (help)

Hey knowledgeable vintage-loving folks,

I recently acquired an old bike with a Brooks B15 Champion Standard saddle. It's showing some age, but one thing in particular is keeping me from riding it. The tension bolt has become unseated from the hole under the front part of the saddle. I tried my hand at wrenching, twisting, turning, knocking, screaming, and any other form of persuasion I could to get the bolt seated in its proper place. To no avail. Same thing at the LBS. They couldn't get it to go. I talked to a guy at another LBS, and he said there was a trick to it, but I guess he only works certain days and I haven't been able to catch up with him yet.

Does anybody have a clue about this trick?

I hope I explained the problem good enough, don't have my camera here at the moment but if needed I can try to get some pictures up.

Anybody ever have similar problems like this?

Thanks much, your help is always appreciated!

No. Just the very front part of the bolt, where the bolt connects into the hole. The bolt is off, it is still in the metal area, but just not in the hole.

Did you try PM'ing Andrea, the Brooks Rep who's managing the Imperial saddle introduction?

So are you saying the bolt is all the way backed out and you just need to thread it back in?

Drill the rivets in the back, thread the bolt all the way down, place new rivets. You can use different diameter rivets to replace the old rivets if you want, e.g., the copper rivets with the larger heads.

See info about Brook's replaceable solid copper rivets at https://www.wallbike.com/accessories/rivets.html
