Porteur style bar that fits...

...bar end shifters?

I've seen the Nitto promanade around, but that appears not to.
Anyone know if there's one out there that does?

Does anyone know if this Nitto B-617 does?

I'm guessing when it says it takes mountain bike levers, it means it doesnt.

The Velo Orange Belleri Porteur bars, the Nitto Albatross, and the Soma Sparrow bars do.

Edit: VO does not show the Belleri Porteur bars any longer in their online store!

Look for cold forged Nitto bars if you want aluminum. Cold forging gives them more stregth so they can have thinner tubing walls. It also makes them more expensive. I think that any steel bar will take Barcons.

It's also possible to drill out the ends of thick-walled bars with a 3/4" bit. It requires a drill press and a home-made fixture.

I wish I would have ordered the Belleri porteur bars, too.

Here's a design for that task from Mark Stonich:

I would make the fixture out of hardwood because I have the tools for it and I would probably only use it once. I can use a Forstner bit for the 7/8" hole, but I would have to buy the 3/4" bit. I haven't priced them, but I know they're not cheap.

Hey, thanks for the info, chaps. I didn;t want to go with the albatross bars, not that I have anything against them - I have a tourer with them - but I wanted that definative porteur bar; with the rise, but no forward bend, and then parallel to the top tube. The albatross is a bit too much like a Northroad. I did try using a courier-style aerobar, which I flipped and turned backwards and then cut off the upturned (or now downturned) ends, but I got an old pair and tried, and the parts your hands rest on were just too short for hands and levers.
I might try and see if I can get some with very long hand-bits. I quite liked the idea of inveresed, bar end levers, but then I'd have to sacrifice the bar-end shifters, and I don't know if I can bear that. I do like bar end shifters.
