plastic bikes??

Last saturday on a roadtrip to the country, I stopped at an antique/2nd hand junk store.

I found outside an amazing bike, it was made almost entirely of plastic. The frame and forks were plastic, and the wheels too. It had an amazing retro futuristic look to it, like it was straight out of logan's run or something. The only recognisable component was a sturmey archer 3spd hub.

Unfortunately the owner refused to sell it, i would have bought it for sure. And i didn't get pics

Anyone have any idea what it was? I've never seen anything like it.

Well, with a Sturmey Archer hub, you can scratch Cinelli Laser from the list. Don't know of any other plastic bikes that would interest me.

yep, that's it.

are they worth much? this one was complete, but a little faded and the plastic did look a tad brittle, probably from being left in the sun too long.

Maybe we'll be seeing them again soon!

"Industrialist Barry Mung, of Southampton (UK) purchased the intellectual property behind the design in late 2007. The intention being to produce the world's first recycled/recyclable bicycle, made entirely from discarded cola bottles. The bike is slated for a 2009-2010 market release."

Yeah, there gonna use black dye in the plastic, advertise it as "Advanced Carbon Plastic" add some leftover Ultegra 9 speed components and sell if for $5000 a bike.
