Nishiki headbadge

Hi all,

I am re-building a Repco Nishiki Tri-A (Australian re-badged Nishiki Tri-A) from the mid-80s.

The Australian distributor (Repco) did not use a head badge (just a big "R" decal on the headtube) and I rather like the look of the Nishiki headbadges. Soooooo, I am wondering if anybody happens to have one laying around that they might be prepared to part with for a little cash including postage to Australia (which should not be too much).

something like this.

PM me if you think you might be able to help.

I have a badge from a Nishiki Olympic, early to mid 80's, and you are welcome to it. If I remember I will take photos for you. As I recall it is similar to what you post; but perhaps not quite the same. If you want photos, pm me with an email address and hope I don't forget....

I picked up a botched SS conversion of a Nishiki mixte last summer for the parts. I rescued the head badge before discarding the butchered frame. I'll look at it tonight and see if it is the same as the one you posted. I believe it is.

Just to hi-jack the thread a little: this brings up a question I've had for years. What's the deal with the capital "M" in that headbadge? Doesn't stand for M-ishiki, Kawamura, or West Coast Cycles....not a reference to American Eagle (the earlier name) either. Obviously they were "inspired" by the Raleigh Heron badge, but why the "M"? (I owned both a semi-pro and pro in the '70s, my first "good" bikes, and both had badges like this)

badge

i don;t think the badge is meant to represent an 'M' at all. It is i think just a shape to represent a crown.

yeah, the "double N" occurred to me, and that's good enough...but it'll never look like a crown AFAI am concerned. Thanks for the replies, guys.

Mine's like the one pictured but a trifle faded with some rust stains from the rivet on one side. If you can't find a better one, I'll send it to you.

Mine is a different style, with a little flag in the center. It's a thin piece of stamped aluminum, weighs next to nothing. In fact I thought it was plastic, but when I dropped it it made a distinct dinging sound. Photo attached; if you want it, it's yours.

i currently ride a much loved nishiki form the mid 80's that is lacking a head badge and would be willing to pay if someone has one laying around that they are willing to part with.
