Okay, this guy must have more money than Bill Gates. Not only does he have a tremendous collection, he's able to find things like this:

1972 Masi Gran Criterium still wrapped in original shipping materials from the factory.

https://www.velostuf.com/Masi%20GC.htm the rest of the unveiling is here.

Though I believe in " Ride, don't hide" I'd make an exception here. The Masi would be hanging from the wall at the Merkel manse.

Easy to picture some enthusiast unwrapping this beauty and just sitting & admiring the pieces in 1972.

You don't need Bill Gates type money when you're hip enough to buy stuff like this before the whole world catches on.

It was not that long ago that you could walk into the back room or basement of most old bike shops and come out with NOS 70's Campy stuff and really cool "obsolete" race bikes. And the store owners were happy to get rid of the stuff. That's because the only people that cared about this old stuff were a small group of collectors like the who found the NOS Masi.

Then came ebay and the year 2000, which somehow how made everything from the years with a 19prefix "old school" and cool.

Yeah my size too, sorry everyone, I'd ride it, 5 times a year... do a century on it once a year type thing, It's exquisite. I makes me want to cry I'm so envious. If it were for sale and I had lots of money I wouldn't hesitate to offer $10,000 for it.

John builds up a lot of bike karma. Too bad for him that this isn't his size.
