Mixte update
Mrs. Stringbreaker and I braved the Friday afternoon traffic on South hill to visit Ken's powdercoating in the Fredrickson area. I had not held much hope we would find the color she was envisioning. BUT they had the color its called Granny Smith green with adams gold top coat. Its a 2 step process and has a metallic fleck in it. They always spray the colors on a tin can so you can see what it actually looks like on a curved surface. we took it out in the light and there was enough sun that it really shows the metallic in there. So she is happy with the color and all I have to do now is strip the frame and get the nicks out so it will be smooth as glass when we get it back. Will post photos of the frame when its done

Well its off to the powdercoater tomorrow for the mixte. Today after work I stripped most of the paint off and sanded down as many of the countless little dings in the frame. I also took it to the boys at Bonney lake Bike shop of Sumner to have the bottom bracket threads chased. One side of the outside of the bottom bracket looked like it had been hit multiple times and when I had done the mock up I noticed the threads were a little boogered (thats a tool and die term) up so I had them chase the thread and it looks like its gonna be aces now. I should have it back in about a week or so depending on when I want to drive up there again. I figured since I have to go to South Hill Group Health tomorrow I might as well take the frame to Kens

You should have had the threads chased after the powder coating... Also it pays to blast a frame before coating as the rough uniform surface it leaved behind makes for a really even coat. A smooth frame isn't as good of a surface... In my limited experience that is what I have gathered, it may depend on the coater as well.

No worries I talked to the powdercoater last week and when they blast it the metal will be rougher than the sanding I did which I didn't use fine paper also they have done lots of bicycles and know enough to mask off and plug the threaded areas such as the BB. They 've been at this a long time and from all I have heard as I have asked around is that they are really good at what they do and I have seen several examples of their work and its top shelf so I'm not too worried in fact when I told the lady I wanted to strip the paint off she said I really didn't have to but as I told her I wanted to take the little divots out of the frame she told me "well thats ok then"
