This Week's Haul- '74 Raleigh Sports, Univega & Araya

Hi everyone-

Its been a good week for me bike wise....
Last Sunday I found a 74 Raleigh Sports three speed in good but rusty condition with new tires and tubes. I love the heron chainring! I'm going to clean it up (I have to find a replacement for the rusty front fender- anyone have a spare? PM me) and give it to my sister for her 30th birthday.

Today I brought home a black Araya with a rack and drillium Brooks saddle that I can hopefully rehabilitate. The frame is pretty heavy but it might make a good beater or fixie.

I also got a mid 80s Univega Maxima Sport in pretty good condition. Unfortunately it's way to small for me!

Have a great week everyone!

RS

Rub the fender down with heavy weight oil, let is sit overnight and wipe it off in the morning. It will look great and you won't have to worry much about the rust.

Thanks for the tip! The rust is pretty thick on the fender so I hope I don' t have to replace it! Ill try the oil method and oxalic acid before changing it

Go oxalic acid first then the oil if you are going that route, I usually just go with the 90wt gear oil. The bits and pieces will get the OA treatment.
