Rear Hub Sizes

I am looking for a little help understanding rear hub lengths in relation to free wheels. Am I right in my understanding that a 120mm hub works with a "standard" sized 5 speed cog set, a 125mm or 126mm with the 6 speed that showed up in the late 70's and 80's and the 130mm, 135mm for later 7 speed free wheels?

I am looking to build up a early 80's 6 speed rear wheel for a Japanese frame and want to make sure I am looking for a 125mm or 126mm rear hub.

Thanking you all in advance for the responses.

not quite (and check Sheldon's site for extra info and confirmation)
Generally speaking, and for ROAD bike hubs:
120=5 speed
126 (125)=6 and *many* 7 speed
130=8,9,10 speed
Mtn. bike hubs used 130 for 7 and 8, 135 for 8,9, 10...it gets confusing cause there is some overlap within the O.L.D.s and between road and Mtn. hubs, and between cassettes and freewheels. I have a couple road wheels that have Mtn. hubs laced in: further muddying the water.
