sure, why not. I built up and sold a Trek 830 as a commuter with skinny slicks, and got more than $100 for it when all done, but this is also a real high-price market (and I didn't make much of any profit on it either). I thought the Trek was the perfect platform for doing that urban commuter job, go for it.

see this can a high price area too. Surburban DC. i am a little torn... ...i am going to look at it tonight and see what it looks like for sure.

bike was in great shape besides a rear wheel that needs to be trued. paid just over 80 bucks. also sent the owner here to BF for research on a road bike he is looking for.
