Cargo Bike from D. B. Sweeney Movie

Can anyone identify the bike the actor delivers an explosive case of beer with, in the movie: A Day in October?

I haven't seen this movie in a while and can't find a picture of the bike on the web but it's similar to this modern version but without the kid bin.

Is it a bicycle? (ie, 2 wheels?)

Worksman makes a front-loading tricycle that would have a similar appearance to a bakfiets minus the box, www.worksmancycles.com. And similar bikes have been made by others.

Only other thing similar is the low-gravity bikes.

On the bakfiets bikes, they do make quite a variety of them, with and without the box. The box is a general-purpose box, not a kid box.

Definitely two wheels. The one in the movie had no box. The case of beer was positioned on the flat bed between the head and steerer... or are they both heads and steerers? I imagine there is some unfamiliar terminology attached to the parts of a bike like this. I'd like to get a good look at the steering linkage.

I'm assuming the bike in the movie was in fact available in the early '40s but Hollywood is not above inventing historical anachronisms, if it moves a plot along.

I had some time to investigate this further, this morning.

One of the Bakfiets dealers I emailed told me that these models are based on the old "Long John" designs. This is definitely the bike from the movie. The picture comes from LongJohn.org and purportedly dates from the 1940s. Notice that the steering is controlled by a single tie-rod.

Now I just have to decide how far I'm going to let this obsession take me. Hopefully I can kill it before it gets expensive.
