Adjusting cantilever brakes on Trek 520

I just picked up a 1988 Trek 520.
I am scratching my head over how to adjust the cantilever brakes. I can't find any barrel adjusters anywhere. The rear cable goes thru a hanger attached to the seatpost bolt. I would have thought that was where the barrel adjuster would go, but no luck. The front cable goes thru the reflector mount. Again there is no adjuster. Am I missing something? I can't imagine that Trek just forgot to put on adjusters for the brakes. Did someone just take them off when they replaced the cables? If so, where should they be?

Some have them. Some don't. If you really want them, look around. I haven't checked, but places like loose screws usually have little parts like that available if your LBS doesn't have some lurking around in their back room.

Ditto. You can find those binder-bolt hangers that incorporate a barrel adjuster, and likewise with the front hangers that fit into the headset stack. Just look around a bit.
