    replacement hardware for Bluemels?

Someone caame into the bike coop, and had lost the strut hardware (you know those nifty eyelet bolts?) off the rear of her Bluemels fenders. Can anyone give me any leads on getting replacement hardware?

These from Velo-orange look like they might work. Can anyone confirm that?

That VO draw bolt won't work as it's for a wrap-around stay as Honjo and others use. There's an eBay seller in Cyprus who often has Bluemels hardware for sale: http://cgi.ebay.com/NOS-BLUEMELS-STA...QQcmdZViewItem

I've bought from him in the past. If you need just one draw bolt and nut, PM me, and I'll search the parts bin.

They look like they should work (the two on the right; the one on the left is an end cap, I believe).

The SKS drawbolts should fit fine. I've used sets on Bluemels before. The actual hex-nuts may be a slightly different outside diameter because they are European (ie. Metric) rather than British, but that just means you would need a different wrench to tighten them. The stay rod diameters seem to be a close enough match that I had no problem mixing the rods of one marque with the drilled bolts of the other. You may still be able to order complete replacement sets through a LBS. At one time you could purchase the complete rod and bolt replacement sets. A bit pricey, but they are stainless steel and will last forever. Some earlier (1950s) Bleumels still used galvanized or chrome plated steel hardware which would corrode over the years. One good thing to do with ths SKS draw bolt nuts would be to add a drop of medium grip Loktite compound on the threads. They are nicely machined, but are definitely not the Nylock style nuts so they can tend to loosen with normal road vibration. Fortunately, you will usually hear the fender rattling long before a bolt is lost.
