If it's all correct @59climber it is now officially that there was no GL before 1995. The Gold line or mine GL 653 RVS showed the first time up in the officially 1995 Katalog...

I want those bar end plugs. Where did you get them? Also, really nice frame. I like the gusseted lugs.

:D

Nice frame indeed. Quite special with the blend of 653 and Poppe & Pothoff stainless steel. Probably one of their last attempts to give handmade in Holland steel frames a future, while al and carbon were entering the marketplace.

no*dice 04-14-10 03:13 PM

 Good Edit. Yeah, the Gold Line is quite ****edup by now ;)

@dark: I can send you a pair of barend plugs. I got them on ebay a while ago. You have a PM.
The lugs called arrowhead. No clue who made them.

Another fine frame you won't encounter on every corner of the street: An AA.653 Triathlon

I have a mostly DA 7400 groupset ready for it. For braking I go with DA AX. Syncros Altura triathlon stem, Mavic bar, Syncros Ti post are a couple other bits that will make the build complete.

You do not care either about timeline don't you :)

If mine was 2cm bigger and a C record Headset mountable I would built the frame up, but like this...

Elev12k 04-14-10 03:54 PM

I would think only the AX brakes would be not period correct ...but the story goes even Lance used them on a 'modernish' ride, so who am I to question the correctness.

no*dice 04-14-10 05:07 PM

When? Do you have a picture? Was he ridin it on his own ride or maybe a tour?

20grit 04-14-10 05:46 PM

I'll throw in mine, though it's not at all complete. I'm slowly accumulating parts; I'm hoping for a suntour superbe pro with barcons build.

a link to the gallery. In there is a photo of the Zeus 2000 fork crown I was asked about a while back. Someone has filed off the top of the seat tube's lug, and there's quite a bit of rust in a few places. I'm pondering reshaping that lug and a repaint, opinions would be more than welcome.

there are some great looking bikes here. can I post my Cornelo here? the frame was brazed in Italy but it was built for a Dutch company. the Model is actually triomphe so I am building it with mostly Triomphe components

no*dice 04-15-10 04:53 AM

Sure,
very interesting thing these imports, do you know for which company they where imported? Does it has any colnago like engraving/stamps on it?

Hi No*dice, no I do not know the name of the actual shop, but apparently it was a fairly large on. the bikes were named after the owners son Corne. there are no fancy embellishments on this frame just the fancy 'crimped' tubes

Thanks for the details! In a German Forum one member found a Cornelo, colnago like a little older but as far we could find out a import...

In the late 70s early 80s I think Belgium was literally drowning in copy-Colnago's, or Clonago's as I like to call them. It may have been the reason Colnago introduced the intricate paint schemes, and some pantographing on the frame tubes.

Here's my thread from a year and a half ago: http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...hlight=clonago

And some pictures of that Clonago:

(same lug cutouts I think)

I think your 70s Gazelle needs a pantographed Gazelle chainring .....

Which I happen to be selling on Ebay right now!

cuda2k 04-15-10 12:17 PM

Freek - you're as bad as Marty tempting me with bike gear! If I didn't just commit to buying Nuovo brakes, levers & campy clips I'd seriously think about it. If the ring doesn't sell and I'm able to thin out my spare parts a bit I'll consider it once the dust settles a bit from my latest projects.

20grit 04-15-10 01:09 PM

there's actually a gazelle panto'd stem on fleabay right now i had to sit and convince myself I don't need.

I'm still on the fence about a repaint btw. Any opinions.... guidance? haha

Believe me , you need it ... :-)

BTW, since last night I can add a pair of Gazelle panto'd Campy gearlevers to the lot ... have yet to Ebay them ...

cuda2k 04-15-10 08:23 PM

I really need to get my hands on a correct Nuovo/Super Record clamp band so I can put my Gazelle panto'ed levers back into service. My AB-Frame has the panto'ed seat post that Freek found for me and it looks great on that bike with the upgraded groupset with it.

... I won't ask what length that Gazelle stem is.
