I see that you like Raleigh's by looking at your profile. Here is something we had hanging in back.

Incidentally, since you took the trouble to photograph that Professional for me, here are some photos for you:

'70 Schwinn Paramount P13 (my latest 'baby' - bringing her back to stock):

DUC_TAPE...to what is the limited edition referring ? Or maybe Kurt has that answer?

I believe the '70 Mark II's were limited in production number - the decal obviously refers to the number of the bike in the production run.

I believe they only made a hand full of Raleigh's that were Campy Groupo, Kurt probably knows more about it then I do lol.

cudak888 06-03-08 04:40 PM

Eclectic collection, no doubt. I recognize the BSA Paratrooper folding machine and the Sears Spaceliner.

Once saw a poorly-maintained, all-chrome men's Spaceliner come into one of the LBS's once. Springer fork and all. Pitiful sight to see it like that, but nice to know it was still around.

No, the International was coming with a Campagnolo NR drivetrain in '70 as well. The Pro was the only one to receive any limited-edition status, and not for the reason of componentry - just for the reason of making it limited edition, I gather.

Limited Edition, the marketing guys were hard at work even back then.

Where in Southern California are all these bikes?

The shop interior does not look familiar, but that is not saying much.

Lamplight 06-03-08 05:30 PM

Wow, what a collection! I guess now I'll have to take pictures of the late '30s Paramount at my LBS. ;)

RobbieTunes 06-03-08 05:37 PM

I delivered papers on one of these (in red). The local Rexall drugstore had a contest, and another kid won it.
A few years later, I bought it for $10 when I got a paper route. Thanks for the memory.

cuda, another Raleigh Pro for you

Charles Wahl 06-03-08 06:18 PM

Does the Raleigh Pro have an asking price? What size is it? -- looks like a 24-1/2 or 25-1/2" frame.

You little stinker - don't tempt me. After all, if I'm looking for anything, it would be a red Super Course to put fenders on:

(Cheap photoshop job)

Having enough trouble trying to keep from spending too much with this Schwinn Paramount of mine :bang:

Looks like a 23.5" to me. Doubt if it is any taller.

GMS 06-03-08 07:14 PM

I think there were 500 of these made. I'm lucky to have #133 and #451. My father bought #451 as a frameset in 1971. I raced on it during high school. I just got #133 a couple of months ago.
I found a reference that Raleigh made over 700,000 other bikes in 1970.

Here's me on 451 at the 1974 East Coast Regional Time Trials. I just missed the cut to go to the Nationals.

Okay, I'll speak up for those reading this post that don't know who Steve or Plume are....

What's the deal? [ahem] That Plume is *my* size!
:innocent:

USAZorro 06-04-08 09:11 AM

GMS is exactly correct. Only 500 of those made.

DUC_TAPE - do you work in a bike shop or a museum?
