tubing stamp identification

frejus bike frame,serial#87222,someone hand spray painted,removed paint to find Columbus stamped on the tubing,-oval stamp w/ dove wings,has 0 7 1 stamped under the oval,anyone know what type tubing this is,or what 071 means?it`s an old frame with grease fittings,campy dropouts thanks George

You might get more info if you repost asking about Frejus specifically - not many people are going to read the title and assume "Frejus."

I haven't seen numbers below a Columbus Dove stamp before, but if it's not a manufacture date code, it could refer to the tubing dimensions: 1mm butt and .7mm unbutted section.

Is the 071 stamp on the tube or on the lug?

^that's a bit of clever thinking there, USAZorro^, I have never seen a lug with the Columbus dove stamping whereas I have seen it on tubes (and occasionally panto'ed on a seat stay cap). It would also be a pretty slack angled lug still, it's definitely a thought to consider: howzabout it George?

I obviously know next to squat about Columbus tubing (see other threads). 71 degrees would make for a very slack angle, but I'm pretty sure Frejus did make some city bikes - and the OP doesn't tell us a lot about the bike.
