Photobucket

I had basically given up on PB about a Year ago. Couldn't log in no access to anything. I just tried to Log on and after changing my email address and password I have my account back (I had tried this before to no avail).
Full access to 5 Years worth of pics I had thought were lost forever.
Has PB seen the error to their ways? Or did I somehow just get Lucky?

Are your past photos that were on Bike Forums able to be seen now?

I've seen some recent threads where the poster is using photobucket for pics and I get the speedometer or fuel gauge (whatever PB was using) and no photo. No one mentions they aren't able to see the photos, so I was wondering if they had some way of keeping me (a disgruntled former photobucket user) from seeing these new picture posts. Is anyone else seeing speedometers on recent threads ??

Good riddance to PB!
The last few years I was using it was a pop up ad circus nightmare.
Going through my photo library in there took ages and I kept getting redirected and stuck into weird corners of the site all the time, doing so......
Holding my posted pics hostage to solicit an expensive, no option subscription sure didn't help my relationship with PB either...

Well that's sorta what I was getting at. I paid no fees and it seems like my Hostage Day's are over.

Not to rain on one's parade but it seems you're in a no better place, just another opportunity to post pics and lose them later?

You can view and download your photos but hosting is a no go unless you pay. I can link this photo but it will go to the broken link thingy after an unspecified amount of time. At least that has been my experience. And I will not be paying. Paramount anyone?

Excellent. Now you are NOT saying you did not have your precious photos stored on a hard drive somewhere.

Some of them. But NOT all.

So as not to be confused... The image I posted above through PB will simply disappear in the near future?

PB could be used in a web designers course on how not to monetize a website.

Yes. Gone from this thread. Not sure why the images will imbed here in the first place only to vanish. Doesn't matter I too have started using imgur and have all my photos safely stored. There are tons of threads on this subject. Just Google, "I hate photobucket".

There is supposed to be a hacked utility to display photobucket images. I haven't tried it though. Does it work with the new Firefox?

Bike Forum JPG images are now allowed to be quite large. Other than not being able to easily sort through old images, is there any reason not to use Bike Forums images?

Previously posted Bike Forum Images can be referenced using

New BF images can be placed inline with the message text using:

A little cumbersome, but it works.

You can find all your old BF images under the Control Panel:

https://www.bikeforums.net/profile.p...ditattachments

I generally don't get thumbnails

Imgur is easy to use, no problems so far.

But they do have Terms of Service that include:
Also, don't use Imgur to host image libraries you link to from elsewhere, content for your website, advertising, avatars, or anything else that turns us into your content delivery network. If you do – and we will be the judge [...] we will ban you along with the site you're hotlinking from, delete all your images, report you to the authorities if necessary, and prevent you from viewing any images hosted on Imgur.com. We mean it.

I don't really understand their business plan. They provide easy links to each image, but don't want you to hotlink? And they seem to be trying to be a social media image site.

No, it is a lack of business sense to rely on customers to allow reoccurring billing against their credit cards to fund something with as little value as an image hosting service. Too many customers have had bad experiences with this method of payment. If attaching banners to linked images or per item billing won't pay the bills, You're in the wrong business.
