I have a Concord Freedom Deluxe 12 speed. Has Kuwahara Cycle company stamped on the headset. Funny thing about this bike. I bought it off CL very cheap to use as a parts bike donor, for my much beloved Schwinn World Sport. It was in very very good condition except it had dry rotted tires. One day On a work day I had a problem (I don't remember what) with the Schwinn and I wanted to get in a ride before work. So, it was faster to just put a couple new tires I had in the gagrage on the Concord. I fell in love with that bike that day and it continues to be my daily rider! I love it so much I want another one!!!!!

I have seen several other cases of Kuwahara manufactured Concords in the course of collecting serial numbers. Kuwahara contracted for a number of private label brands, including Apollo, Concord, Hirame, Soma, Takara and World of Wheels. Kuwahara owned brands included KCL, Kuwahara and, my favourite, Gear-Z. I'd appreciate your serial number for my database. TIA.

86 Kuwahara Apollo Classic

New to this forum. I know it's an old thread but I just picked up the following and wanted to learn more about it. I got a 1986 Kuwahara Apollo Classic. I know it's an 86 because the guy I bought it from has owned it since new. It's in amazingly good shape and rides great. I'd lie to know where this falls in the lineup of quality and options.

IMHO Kuwahara bikes are some of the finest steel frame bicycles out there. They are equivalent to anything made in Italy or England BITD. A good value for anybody interested in riding vintage stuff. Be good. Have fun.
