Buckler Colnago with Suntour SP restoration

Hello Everyone,

I am restoring a Buckler team racer from the 1990-1992 era. The frame is a Colnago, and I am having CyclArt do some touching up and they will also clear coat the frame. I have NOS Suntour Superbe Pro parts (still looking for the chain), Ambrosio Metamorphosis Colnago tubular rims, a Concor Supercorsa saddle, and Ciclolinea Pelten Fade bar tape (wrong color, though). I have some Time pedals with Suntour's name on them (I think that the team used Time Equipe pedals). In general, I am trying to be as authentic as possible, without losing my mind.

I would like some advice about nipples and spokes. I have been told that double butted spokes would be appropriate. What about nickel-coated brass nipples? Would they have been identical in 1991 to what we use now? Also, any guess as to the manufacturer of the water bottle cages? Are there other accessories I should be looking for? All comments welcome.

DB spokes with brass nipples was standard issue for most teams of the time.

The stamping in current DT spokes (and the bend length) is different to then but don't get too anal about it.

What about Prym spokes? Are they good? Would any racing team use them? I think that they are German.

Sapim

I was recently told that Sapim spokes might be the way to go.

I would be looking for the older Elite bottle cages.
