Pitted hub dilemma

I recently bought a Campy Record hub via eBay. After disassembling and cleaning it, I found two major pits. I went ahead and reassembled it anyway. When the hub is properly adjusted and you turn the axle, it rotates smoothly but you can definitely feel the pitting every 270 or so degrees.

I'm inclined to build a wheel on this hub anyway. I got it cheap, it's the right size and right model, and the exterior looks reasonable for a used vintage hub. I won't be riding the bike all that much, maybe a thousand miles a year, and I figure I can either toss the hub now and start my search over again, or ride it for a few years till it fails and then toss it.

Am I just rationalizing? Anyone have experiences, good or bad, riding pitted hubs?

I doubt you'll even notice when riding...

The same thing happened to me once. I rode it until I found a donor hub. The cups are removable in Record hubs. I changed the cup and it is good as new.

Are the pitted parts in the cup or the cones? Replacement cones are pretty easily available.
