Super Record Rear, Front and Shifters
What should I look for and look out for when purchasing used Super Record components? Does model year really matter? Should I buy compnents at a time or a bike and strip it?
What is a fair price for Super Record Rear, Front and Shifters? I did extensive searing on eBay and the stuff can go for very little to a ton if NOS in original boxes. But, how about for average - used?
Here is what I am currently looking at buying...
Any advice/help is greatly appreciated

Buying a bike and stripping is a better value but is a lot more time consumptive. If you can find one local you can actually make money on it and keep the derailleurs.. Year does not matter unless you are trying to go period on a bike. Nothing to look out for. If you can handle them yourself you want to make sure the pivots and tight and the rear mech has good spring tension of course and the less signs of wear the better obviously.

Years probably don't matter EXCEPT the first year, which looks like a Nuovo Record with black parts, is quite desirable and valuable. Personally, I don't find Super Record to function perceptively different than Nuovo Record, and I like the look of NR better.

Thanks for your replies. What price is fair for these three parts?

There were two versions of super record. Three versions, soon. The earlier ones were first out in about 1974, maybe, depending on whether you count promotional releases, and the later models were released in 1978, continuing through 1988 or 1989, depending on when the last dregs of the production run were released for sale. The first generation stuff is breathtakingly expensive, especially the rear derailleur and the seatpost. I would recommend staying away from the internal super record components (axles and bottom bracket spendle). They are expensive and fairly fragile, unless you are going to show the bike.
dbakl has the range bracketed for the second generation stuff. you'll spend $250-$350 just for the first-generation rear changer if you need the first generation parts.
But, then again, you'd spend $400-$500 for the newest generation rear changer. Consider the older stuff a bargain.
