For your edification, the original CL ad, so you can see how "well" it was advertised:

Oh, no. So it turns out that the seat tube is ever so slightly out of round. What appeared to be a scratch in the paint is actually a line where the tube is slightly creased. It points outward, as if the dent came from the front, then was pushed out by the seat post. I'm trying to decide what to do about it. I think I may heavily grease a seat post of the same diameter but longer and see if I can straighten the dent out some. The problem is that since it's a crease I don't think it will come all the way out. I don't think it makes it a safety issue to ride it, but it's not perfect now, for sure. Major bummer.

Try installing the post while lightly clamping the area (with some form of protecting cover, of course) with smooth hose clamps. Should prevent the tube from bending out of round in any other direction while you work the post down. Might help to round the bottom edge of the post if it isn't angled already.

A little more story and answer to a question.
So I got lost on the way there. Drove right past the road I was supposed to take. This was in the country and there was no one around. I was really running late because of traffic. I was turning around in a side road after driving like 4 miles too far. I wasn't sure what to do and then this car comes over the hill and I flag them down. Old couple in their 70's I'd say. I ask about the road. The guy thinks for a minute and says, "yeah that's back that way," pointing. I thank him and he turns off in that direction. I turn around, and head that way after him. I catch up after a min or two and just drive along, looking at all the road signs. I don't see it. I'm nervous because the time is ticking before these people have to leave. I'm agitated, but I have no cell phone service in the area so I can't call and tell them I'm lost. I drive on for a couple more miles. Seems like forever. Still no road. Then the guy I has asked for directions slows down really slow. At first I'm wondering if he's going to turn off. Just as I'm passing it, I realize what I thought was a driveway is actually a road. And it's the right one. I flash lights, give him two beeps on the horn and turn off. Phew! If that guy hadn't come along... no PX-10 for me.
So the full S/N is: 2727599
I still haven't found any PX-10 in that time frame with 49D cranks. But it was major boom timeif it is a '72 and perhaps they couldn't get enough supply of 93s. It could be that the wheels, which are totally age appropriate, were also original for the same reason. I don't know.
Also, the spoke heads have a heart on them, not a triangle. Anyone know who that is?

As for the bikes being PX-10s, they made that model designation until sometime in the early 80's.

I have a pair that came with my Holdsworth La Quelda.
I came home tonight with a late 50s 531 Raleigh Lenton Marque 111.
Also sporting a pair of the same.
Under-rated and quality items.

I'm back in town now and if car projects don't get in the way this weekend (brake work) then I'll be working on the PX!

Great find. Post pics when you get her all cleaned up.
Speaking of 72 px10's I also have one that I've assumed was from that year. Serial # is 2477996, has the "plain" lugs, and many of the same components as yours. I'm missing the original wheels, and I swapped the Brooks Pro for a similar vintage B17, but other than new cables, housing, brake pads and bar tape it's all original (I think). The differences...my bike has the Stronglight 93 cranks, Racer brakes, downtube shifters, a white fork crown, and a death stem.
