What should I be keeping here. (Schwinn Sport Tourer)

This is a general question as well as a specific question.
I've been pulling bikes out of dumpsters for a couple of years now and I'm starting to get a feel for it.
A while back I left a red Schwinn SuperSport at the dump cause I thought it was a fancy Varsity and once I googled it and got back to the dump it was gone (I did get the Brooks saddle off it). So I've been watching schwinns and recently picked up a beat up Continental thinking that someone would want parts off it.
A week later I got a Sports Tourer for $40 and I'm in fillet brazed heaven, and I'm thinkin', "maybe this Continental has some stuff I can use.
The 7/8 seatpost won't work for me but I know these are in demand.
The chrome fork is better than the one on the S/T but is it the same or do I need to find a ChroMo fork.
I kept the french freewheel cause I know these are not common.
the wheels were shot but I saved the spokes and nipples thinking they might fit (this is when I started thinking I might be getting anal).

So this is the specific situation but I'm thinkin in general, should I bother saving spokes? Steel hubs? Axles? Schwinn approved French nipples(reminds me of the beaches on the Riviera). What are some of the little things that are hard to find?
I sold a set of cable ferrules off a dead Motobecane to a guy on Ebay, just a couple of bucks but he was happy to find them, I'm glad I didn't throw them out.
So specifically, what from an early seventies Sport Tourer interchanges with a "78 Continental and more generally, what should i just throw away?
Thanks.
Ben

If that Continental is a Conti II, 22" frame with a full-chrome fork, I'd be interested if you'll part with it - could use it for the chrome Continentals I have here. I have a few spare, painted Continental forks here, if you need one in its place.

When you say 22" is that center to center or center to top?

I believe center-to-top in Schwinn's case. The 22" size on the men's frames should look like this:

This is probably what you need. I'll take a closer look at it tomorrow. It's got a little surface rust. I'll take a picture when my wife gets home from her family reunion with my camera.
