Puch 1982 Pacifica

I am new to this forum and I have a 1982 Puch Pacifica with all original equipment. The frame is Puch original 2700 Chrom Molybdan, the fork is 2600 Manganese alloy, Brakes WeinMann, Rims Weinmann, Derailluers are Sun Tour ARX front and back, Cranks are Sakae Silstar, Handlebar Friko Touring Super, seat Selle Royal. Does anyone have one of these? And if so do you have any idea what it cost when new?

Update, I have owned this bike since new. I have not used it much and just gave it new tires, tubes and a tuneup. I did not buy the bike, the company I worked for gave it to me as part of a sales promotion. I road it for the first time in years on Sat 12 miles, Tues 11 miles, Wed 13miles, and today 20 miles. This is a great riding bike!

I purchased a Puch Luzern new in 1984 for about $425.00. Your Pacifica has similar components as what my Luzern was originally equipped with, however my frame is Reynolds 531, which probably placed it one or two steps up in the model lineup. I would guestimate the Pacifica was in the upper 200's or lower 300's. I doubt it could have been had for less than $250 anyway.

The weight of my 82 Puch Pacifica is 26lbs how does that compare to your Luzern?

I haven't weighed it, but its probably in the same ballpark as yours. Back in the early 90's I had it repainted emerald green metallic from the original black and fitted it with full Campagnolo Athena components and Mavic Rims.

Here's a garage door shot of it:

I have a photo laying around somewhere of it with its original equipment, I'll get around to scanning it one of these days.

Nice looking ride! Thanks for the photo. Did you find that the new components improved your bikes performance?

Not really...it was all about the esthetics for me. I fell in love with the Athena group when it came out. Though the wheels were definitely a step up from the Weinmanns. That was a noticeable improvement.

Don't know if you're still hanging around this forum, but...

I have a Pacifica that I bought new in the mid-1980s. Mine has the brand name Austro-Daimler on it, and I would assume yours does as well. Mine is gold, with blue graphics. And yes, they are great bikes. A very good road/touring bike in its day, and still a nice ride. I list info about mine, components, etc., in this thread. I don't remember how much I paid for mine.
