This was a freebie. 'L'Express' with Reynolds tubing, Nervex-lugs, Campy dropouts and nice components (Dura Ace brakes and RD, drilled Sugino crank). Pretty beaten, but the rust looks fairly superficial. I was just going to salvage some components, but now I'm thinking, wouldn't this be worth a respray? What would you do? Btw, I just found out 'L'Express' used to be a local frame-builder of some reputation.

I would try to save it, esp. if it's from a known good framebuilder.

A Reynolds frame from a small local builder? How can you consider anything but preserving and riding it? Nice-looking lugwork, including the seat cluster kevinsubaru was admiring.

Hadn't even noticed these fancy curls on the BB-lugs - now I'm definitely keeping this baby, rust or no rust!

Definitely a frame worth keeping. Do you have the headtube badge?

The wrap over stays speaks Dutch to me. Serial number seems to be large for it to be a small bulder thing. Decals look very worn on the downtube, anything left that's readable? Don't know if Gazelle ever used Nevex lugs and the geometry looks a bit relaxed for any Mondial I've ever seen, but perhaps another of the larger dutch builders?

It's an Antwerp brand - belgian, not dutch. Shop still exists, but nowadays sells mostly Cannondale and Specialized.
