Need J.C. Penneys Bike info please.
I'm resurrecting an old men's single speed J.C. Penneys bicycle and giving it to a older jobless man that has no car or any way to get around town other than walking. I took him a nice 10 speed bike but he'd never ridden one with "speeds" before and was scared of it and the uncomfortable position it would put him in. So I told him I had this old coaster brake bike that I'd clean up for him.
Anyway, it's a Penney's and nothing really special about it. It has fenders, a nice big sprung seat and 24" x 1-3/8" tires. It has the normal upright comfort style handlebars. What I'd like to know is how old it is. I'd guess it's maybe from the late 50's or early 60's. I did not take a picture before I disassembled it to repaint but I did get the serial number. It's M2 3260 142713. It was near the J.C. Penney's triangle badge sticker. There is another sticker on the seat tube that says BMA/6 Certified. That's all the info I have so would anyone know maybe the year from the serial number or a way I can find out? It's not a big deal but just curious. I'll post a picture once I have it finished. Thank you very much.
