Guerciotti FLAT fork crown/wheel clearance
Got a lead on a genuine NOS Guerciotti fork off an NOS frame in Oregon, since built up with a carbon fork:
Threading down to fit my 61cm frame would not be a problem.
Only problem is, I cannot tell if it is a genuine road fork that has yet to be drilled, or a track fork that somehow found its way on a road frame. I'm leaning towards the latter, but I want to make sure before I plop down $75 for this thing.
Fellow says a 23C clears, 25C does not. I am awaiting a photo with the wheel installed, though the fact that a 25C does not fit has me wondering already. The rear brake bridge on the frame it supposedly came off of seems quite close to the wheel in its own right.
With that said, I wish to ask if anyone with (or with a photo of) a road Guerciotti could post it here for reference against the photo I am presently awaiting. Mind you, I'm looking for photos of the variants with FLAT crowns, not sloping.

That fork looks like the one on my '82. Not that it's a big deal, but it probably predates your frame.

Kurt,
Does the frame have TSD or Gooch stamped brake bridges? What do the tubing decals say? It appears as though the fork is not drilled, if that is the fork you are getting...

I know the fork isn't drilled. Point is that there is supposedly limited clearance with it, which aroused my suspicions as to it being a track fork - the non-drilled crown would seem to support that.
The CR pic pretty much answered the question though, along with Gridplan's '82 - there should be ample room to put a 25C down there, perhaps even a 28C if one wished.

Has it been repainted? The lettering looks blockier than what's on my '79. The frame pictured in your first post looks mid-80's to me. On that one, I would've expected a sloping fork crown. But others would know better I'm sure.
Edit: I guess my confusion is with the picture in your initial post (the source of the fork). Your frame, if it's from '78-80, is probably right for that fork. But I'd be surprised if it was original to the donor frame.

No worries. It looks great. I only asked because I tend to look at a bike's paint scheme, especially with Guerciottis from around then, when I'm trying to get a feel for when it was made.

Nice looking frame, even with the top of the BB cable guide paired with the under the chainstay cable stop.
The fork is for a track bike, probably not going to work great, a short reach caliper with the blocks All the way up might make it, then again, may not, also the short fork will steepen the head angle just a touch... and you should really be riding tubulars anyway.
If its cheap, maybe just for the time being...

yeah it's gotta be a track fork. A side on shot of the entire blades would also tell the tail. All that said, the track fork is probably worth more on the open market than a road fork since so many fixed kids want to put track forks on their IROs and such.
