Old steel frame for TT bike completed!
Thanks to those who posted in my original thread on using old steel bikes as TT bikes. Here are the pics of the completed bike. A strip and spray job and some dodgy stickers (I know the downtube one is wrong!), new bottom bracket, nine speed campy rear cassette, cheap new rear mech and a cheap crank set. Topped off with nashbar handlebars.
Now to ride it......

Very nice! I am glad to see others doing this. I have an 82 trek 710 that I used for sprint tri.
It made me laugh racking it up in the transition area in a sea of carbon fiber.
I just bought some aero bars and brake levers for it, I want to see just how fast it can go.

Adding the aero bars, brakes and handle bars was very easy. Dedicated TT bikes are so expensive it has to worth a go with an older bike. I'm going to try some 10's and see what time I get. I can do about 24 mins on a road bike so I hope I can go faster on this.

Dude that is one riced-out Raleigh...
Put a Flowmaster on that thing. And a wing. And some spinnazz. And hydraulics...
Wait I think I am mixing up my car fads...

It is a threaded headset just with a quill adapter so I can use that stem. I agree the older stems look much better. Deez did you find the right posting for the BB conversion?

According to my bike computer I hit a top speed of 39mph in a sprint triathlon 2 weeks ago. Upgraded '81 Schwinn Traveler thank you very much. Yes, it was downhill, but I was pedaling.
And yes, my bike stands out at the tri big time!
